Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Binatone Speakeasy Combo 3410 telephone in white has a range of helpful features designed to reconnect people. These features include extra-large buttons on each of the 2 handsets, a large clear display on the base and a visual ringer so that you can see as well as hear when someone is calling you. A corded handset and a cordless one are included for maximum flexibility of use. The list of such features goes on: there’s a built-in handsfree speakerphone in the Speakeasy Combo 3410 so you don’t have to use either of the handsets to speak and hear. The phone is hearing aid-compatible and there’s an emergency call button. Press it and you are instantly connected to a pre-set number of someone who can help. Other, more familiar functions are also on board. Last number redial, a 20-strong calls log and volume controls are all present, and the built-in answerphone can record up to 14 minutes-worth of messages.

The many hours of searching for a nice looking, easy to use, multi-function and cheap telephone answering machine paid off when I bought this phone.

It has a nice clear, bright - large buttoned panel with a nice easy to read large lettered LCD display, allowing you to see which number is calling you (if you subscribe to Caller ID). You can program the telephone with the names of callers allowing instant recognition of who is calling when the phone rings (even on the remote handset.

It takes only moments to set up out of the box and programming the various functions on it was very easy too. One its great features is that you can assign a ringtone to different people so that you can recognise who is calling just by the ringtone.

One handy feature is that you can use the remote handset(s) as an "around the house" intercom - even out in the garden.

A great phone all in all, better and with more features than many cheaper ones on the market.

PS: The only negative thing I can say about it is that the LCD display on the base phone & the remotes are not backlit or illuminated.

I bought this phone for my in-laws who are about 90 and slow to learn new tricks. With a bit of imaginative programming on my part, my mother-in-law has learnt to key the right buttons to ring the right person, which is saying a lot! Also, using BT's free Privacy at Home package, they now have Caller Display, which neither of them can read, but the phone plays a different tune to let them know it's one of us and not some cold caller (Telephone Preference doesn't filter them all out). Altogether pretty pleased and thinking about getting the same model for ourselves.

I've had one of these for a year now. It worked well as a normal phone but has a few negative points. The speaker-phone volume was always very quiet (especially as it's got big numbers so is directed at those with failing sight and hearing) and the range of the radio signal seems to vary with the weather quite a lot. The remote units make a very loud noise when they reconnect after losing their signal which is not ideal when you have the remote unit on your bedside table (on spooky nights when the wind is blowing and the rain is coming down in sheets you I get very loud beeps at random intervals through the night). I never managed to make a call from my kitchen as the signal couldn't get through the 2ft thick stone internal walls. Finally, and most annoying, the display gradually decayed, losing segments of the number display and now just displays hieroglyphics because of the amount of missing segments. You get what you pay for I guess.

It looks good, the buttons are good & comfe to use as a normal phone only. The cordless handset that comes with it, even after setting on "off mode" all tones, every few minutes it goes out of range & makes an anoying noise... the range reception is useless even through this walls. I had to revert back to my old BT wireless handset for my bedroom.

Good easy to use phone. Recordings are clear. Phone was easy to set up, did not really need the instructions mostly. Dialler numbers are large and clear, good for anyone who has bad vision. Good all round phone and answer machine.

An excellent phone for anyone with sight or hearing difffculties. The ony criticism
would be that the screen contrast could be better. Answering facilty is one of the best. This particular purchase was supplisd without a power lead for the main phone but this was perhaps an error.Binatone Speakeasy 3410 Combo DECT Answering Machine - White

We purchased a heavily discounted Binatone Speakeasy 3410 Combo-DECT Answering machine - white for the home and it came well packed factory reconditioned.
It works well for the main usage. It rings and we can speak. It also takes messages. So far so good. The Users handbook gave me a challenging hour or two as the buttons pressed for command did not activate properly. Therefore we do not have the correct time or date displayed which means the announcement for messages makes little sense. Also the time based upon 12 hour am/pm or 24 hour clock was not easy to fix.The alarm was pre-fixed at an early hour a.m. was particularly frustrating, but this was fixed by changing the am to pm, so not so bad.The cordless handset still makes trill rings at odd times of the day, as if activated by an unseen caller! No my imagination has not got the better of me!
All in all we are happy to have a cordless phone again that satisfies our main requirement but the technology packed into such a small circuitry is still a wonder to behold.
