May not work with broadband line, 12 April 2008
This review is from: Binatone Caprice 600 Corded Telephone with Answering Machine in Silver (Electronics)
This is basically a very good machine, but has one minor and one serious fault. The minor one: it loses date and time in a power failure. The big problem is a probable incompatibility with a broadband enabled line, in my case when the router was running recorded messages were too noisy to be usable. I have found that other answering machines have no problem on this line, the helpline admits this can happen, they call it incompatibility with the ADSL filter. It will be OK if you have an ADSL modem which is switched off when you need an answering machine, but you should not buy this machine if you want to use it on an ADSL line when the modem or router is running.

Very good value, 2 April 2007
This review is from: Binatone Caprice 600 Corded Telephone with Answering Machine in Silver (Electronics)
This phone is very well featured for the money - some of the specifications are better than indicated i.e. it has a 120 name & number memory and upto 20 mins recording time. It looks and feels good, and the answerphone is remotely accessible.
Even if the mains power is disconnected it keeps your names and numbers in memory, and you can still use it to make and receive calls.
Sound quality is perfect via handset or speakerphone. The LCD display is not backlit, but I find it quite easy to read. Caller ID works well.
Only cons I can think of are: Only one (monophonic) ring tone, no backlight for LCD display, and it does loose the time if the power is disconnected.

Poor quality OGM and ICM, 2 Oct 2008
This review is from: Binatone Caprice 600 Corded Telephone with Answering Machine in Silver (Electronics)
This item was purchased primarily for its AnswerPhone functionality. After setting-up the telephone and recording the Outgoing Message, a test call from another line revealed that this message was barely audible. Further tests from other remote locations confirmed this. After various trials, re-recording by almost shouting within 2-3 inches of the microphone improved the situation, but of course the message understandably now sounds to the caller like someone shouting from a great distance.
We have just received our first Incoming Message. It was barely understandable (words and partial words missing). Luckily the person's number was just about discernable. I don't know whether this is the result of using the phone on a broadband line (as reported in other reviews)... we couldn't be bothered to experiment any further. We have now temporarily returned to our old tape-based system whilst we source a replacement with acceptable quality.
