somewhat remniscent of martin amis, Bilton, propels itself along at a satisfying pace, veering between absurd comedic touches and humorous sideswipes at journalists (particulairly), media, politicians and celebrity.
the book is written in first person, and the narrator is a struggling jouranlist, whos strange colleague finds himself the cntre of the media spotlight after a bizaree fracas with the prime minister
what is covered particularly well are the inane columns the author is forced into writing, (hard to look at a sunday supplement the same again), and biltons ascent to celebrity and the inevitable consequences.
