BILLY’S RUN

Billy Thomson, a drug user in the employ of Glasgow gangster Maxie McLean, had aspirations far beyond his capability, but trying to rip off Maxie for a large sum of money set in motion a series of events that begun with the sudden, untimely death of Billy.
The aftermath of Billy’s demise had repercussions on a number of people, not least the uniformed officer who was chasing Billy at the time of his death.
In time, DC Willie McKay, a downtrodden, deeply unhappy man becomes embroiled in the inquiry, as does Billy’s loving grandmother and his drug addicted girlfriend, Angie.
The frantic search for the stolen money by the sadistic Maxie and his henchmen sets the scene for the mayhem that follows the passing of the rather insignificant Billy Thomson.
Set mainly in the Glasgow area, the book exhibit’s a knowledge of police procedures as the tension is cranked up to the final, explosive outcome.

Fantastic read 29 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I read the kindle version of this book,
Billy's run was an excellent read, it has plenty to keep you turning the pages till you get to the end and was a hugely enjoyable read. I felt drawn into the characters in general, and it was difficult to put down as i was always eager to find out what happened next.

It was really easy to get caught up in the characters and story line as living in glasgow myself it is easy to get familiar with the characters as you will come across at least one of them on a walk out your front door, but not too familiar that you wouldnt recognise a character no matter what city you came from.

It was one of those books that every time i had a spare minute I picked it up and I had to keep reading.

I would highly recommend reading this book.

I am also looking forward to reading the rest of george's books.

George Donald's books on Amazon, fantastic, got them on my Kindle now.
This was my first George Donald book (on A4 paper courtesy of the author) and it was a hugely enjoyable read. I felt drawn into the characters in general, and Willie McKay in particular. Glasgow has dozens of Willie McKay's and it was easy to walk in his shoes and emotionally share his journey through the madness and mayhem of the story.
There are enough well placed belly laughs in relation to the characters and the situations they find themselves in, as well as real feelings of despair dotted through the storyline, that every time I picked it up, I had to keep reading.
Knowing the local geography and many of the character types portrayed, only added to the enjoyment.
Definitely worth a read.............5 Stars

Excellent Read 22 May 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I saw this in the kindle store whilst browsing and the bottom line is I ended up downloading all of the authors titles and couldn't put them down.
the realism of the characters is uncanny and the reader can tune in to them very quickly. All I can say is I hope for more titles soon and a paperback would be good to give as a present to friends without ebook.
