Product Description

Billy Thomson, a drug user in the employ of Glasgow gangster Maxie McLean, had aspirations far beyond his capability, but trying to rip off Maxie for a large sum of money set in motion a series of events that begun with the sudden, untimely death of Billy.
The aftermath of Billy’s demise had repercussions on a number of people, not least the uniformed officer who was chasing Billy at the time of his death.
In time, DC Willie McKay, a downtrodden, deeply unhappy man becomes embroiled in the inquiry, as does Billy’s loving grandmother and his drug addicted girlfriend, Angie.
The frantic search for the stolen money by the sadistic Maxie and his henchmen sets the scene for the mayhem that follows the passing of the rather insignificant Billy Thomson.
Set mainly in the Glasgow area, the book exhibit’s a knowledge of police procedures as the tension is cranked up to the final, explosive outcome.

This was an interesting read with twists and turns. At times it felt like there were too many characters but it was well constructed and held together. The plot developed well and the different characters interacted well within their constraints. Satisfying ending with the one character you really felt for, getting a little bit of luck that you didn't want to deny him. Well written police procedural/crime with a strong setting that made it very realistic.

Interesting story with a wee twist in it. You would recognise the Glasgow Areas if you lived there. Sad and True.

Very good read with an assortment of characters you grow to care about. Some nice comic touches with the story building to a tense climax.

An interesting read. I really enjoyed the writing style and felt George Donald kept true to the Scottish roots with both language and feel of the novel. It kept me turning pages and especially towards the end I didn't want to put it down. I really like a lot of the characters and wanted a happy ending. Won't spoil the ending for you, so read the book if you want to find out if I got what I hoped for ! Will be checking out more of this author's work.
