Fabulous dvd, My husband and I watched the series on ITV 1 thought it was excellent must watch TV, we can't wait to watch it again without the comercial breaks that rudely interupt your viewing. I have been a fan of Billy Connolly since I was at school I have watched all of his journey's he has made around Austrailia, New Zeland, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and his journey to the edge of the world. I now have them all on dvd so that I can enjoy them again and again, I think he gets to the heart of where ever he is visiting and makes it so interesting and funny his view on the world is fabulous, Would recommend this dvd to all FAN's.

I travelled the whole of Route 66 at the same time Billy Connelly was filming it so I was really looking forward to the series as I loved the journey.
However, I can only say the series disappointed me. For a start, if one disregards the adverts the total running time is about three hours and one cannot even begin to do justice to this amazing road in that time.
Many of the great scenes along the route seemed just to flash by with hardly a mention and some of the chats he had with people were, in my opinion, too long and not relevant and I think the detour to Monument Valley in a programme that did not have a lot of time for its actual subject, struck me as odd, albeit that Monument Valley is incredible.
Furthermore, I felt that far more needed to be said about the Route's history ,how it came about, what is must have been like to have travelled on it in the early days and how the road has fared and changed
over the years. I was pleased to see that the revival that started in Seligman, Arizona was mentioned at reasonable length.
I did, of course enjoy seeing some of the sights I had seen on my own journey and I agree with Billy Connelly's views on the great city of Chicago.
I would advise anyone who enjoys travelling to try the Route 66 journey but the series could have been a lot better. More time devoted to the subject rather than four rather short programmes would have helped greatly.

I actually missed the first episode but watched the rest, and this is truly a brilliant series. And what better man to go on this journey with than Billy Connolly, he starts from Chicago all the way to Los Angeles. It shows off the beauty of what America truly is, he gets to meet various locals along the way. I highly recommend watching this as this will make up the dream of travelling through the American highway, if you don't have the money or time to do it yourself. So I suggest buying this, and going on a spectacular journey with a true legend!

I love R66
My wife and I drove Route 66 for our honeymoon in August 2011 and it was an amazing trip. We totally agree with Billy's views on Chicago and many of the other places we saw. Read more

Billy Connolly's Route 66 was brilliant, I know it was shown on TV but some of the filming was shorten for the adverts, with the DVD no adverts so you saw all of the filming. Read more
