Whether or not you have been to Butlins this book is a fascinating insight into the life of Sir Billy Butlin and what drove him to create his holiday camps. For those that have visited or worked at any of the camps I'd say this is a must have.

Billy explains in his own words his early years and how the idea of Butlins came about. Read how it was not all plain sailing in both business and personal life. His imagination in getting out of tricky situations is remarkable.

Read about the man who had a dream and followed it through from his first fairground stall to the Butlins empire. But he wasn't just a tough ruthless businessman. He had compassion and in many respects was very humble, and wanted to help others even at the expense of his personal life. He was also very committed to charity work and donated vast amounts to very worthy causes.

An interesting read about a truly remarkable man.
