Book Description

In "Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School", Bunter is up to his usual pranks; falling asleep in class, stealing jam and cakes from other boys' lockers, chalking rude things on the blackboard, getting six of the best from Mr. Quelch, failing to turn up for cricket, scuffling with the local vagrant and even being threatened with expulsion. Thoroughly enjoyable listening for all children aged six to ninety plus! First published in 1908, Bunter's staggering popularity has lasted for more than a century now. The reader Martin Jarvis is a multi-award-winning television and voice actor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Return to my childhood years 14 May 2003
Format:Audio Cassette
I listened to these cassettes with nostalgia first, remembering the texts that I read as a boy many years ago. Then, curiously, my son took an interest in them and asks me to play them in the car every time we travel together. As he has become a fan of Frank Richards, I have had time to study Martin Jarvis's performance which is worthy of praise. Each character has his voice, his personality...
I can only recomend this cassette.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful narration of a favorite classic. 22 April 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio Cassette
Billy Bunter, the Famous Five (Harry Wharton, Frank Nujent, Johnny Bull, Bob Cherry and Hurree Jamshed Ram Singh), the Bounder and all the other chaps of the Remove at Greyfriars School come alive in this wonderful narration by Martin Jarvis. He makes each character unique and takes the place of a full fledged cast. Mr. Quelch is strict and ornery and Billy Bunter as gluttonous as ever in this utterly enjoyable tale of pilfered tuck, rides out of bounds and capers in the quad. I absolutely enjoyed this narration!

5.0 out of 5 stars A child's view 7 Feb 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio Cassette
My daughter is 11 years old. This is what she says'I think that the story is extremely witty and delightfully old fashioned.Martin Jarvis is the ultimate Bunter,a perfect narrator.
The characters seem to come alive with his multi voice brilliance. Each person is accompanied, not only by different voice, but by a different character as well. Martin Jarvis really makes it seem as if you are in the Remove with the fellows!YAROOOH- have a nice time listening you fellows!'
