Product Description

Product Description

Seven times world Martial Arts champion Billy Blanks presents this introduction to his own fitness regime Tae-Bo, used by such celebrities as Goldie Hawn, Brooke Shields, Paula Abdul and Sugar Ray Leonard. Incorporating moves from self-defence, dance and boxing, Tae-Bo can help you burn off 800 calories a day. The two programmes included here include a basic introduction to Tae-Bo and instructional work-out.

From Amazon.co.uk

"Ah, we're rockin' now, baby!" World Martial Arts champion and occasional action movie star Billy Blanks has become (almost) a household name with his own brand of fitness video, Tae-Bo. It's a simple yet inspired idea: take martial arts and boxing moves (punching, kicking) and turn them into an aerobic dance-style workout that viewers can do in their own living room (providing you move furniture and any fragile ornaments out of range first). No equipment, no dieting, no frills required: just enough space for some shadow-boxing and kicking. The testimony of Tae-Bo converts confirm that it's a high-energy, calorie-burning routine guaranteed to work those muscles and sweat away the flab.

On this video our genial, energetic host leads an intensive 30-minute live workout in which you, the viewer, will definitely need all the encouragement he so generously hands out to stay the course--at least for the first time. He launches very quickly into the full workout, so it's a good idea to warm yourself up before starting the tape. Or you can forward to the second half, an instructional session in which Billy introduces all the basic moves of Tae-Bo. This is vitally important as you won't be able to follow the workout routine without some initial practice. Here he is assisted by four women who, disconcertingly for the average couch potato, look like they need no additional toning whatsoever and seem to be made of rubber, so flexible are they when undertaking the stretching and bending exercises.

Once you've completed the introduction, rewind to the workout. Tae-Bo really is fun: as Billy's enthusiasm catches hold and you feel those muscles start to burn you'll understand why it's become the most successful fitness series on video. "Good job, good workout". --Mark Walker

As the mum of 8 month old twins I don't have a lot of time to spend on exercise. I already have the Tae Bo DVD but with the workouts being an hour long it was a bit difficult to fit it in while my kids are napping. With the half hour workout on this video I have enough time to do my workout, have a shower and a cup of tea, and if I'm lucky get my kids lunch ready. I've already noticed a difference in my energy levels. So, if like me you don't have a lot of time I highly recommend it!

I bought this video a few months ago after getting very depressed with my weight and finding all other exercise videos boring - this tape has done wonders for me - it's easy to follow, interesting and really gives you (as a beginner) a good workout. I have lost over 2 stone in the time I've used it (and have since taken up kickboxing proper as I've enjoyed the moves so much). However, I now need something more advanced and am hoping that the 57 minute Tae-Bo advanced video will soon be available over here. While I still enjoy this workout (and to a lesser degree the Tae-Bo 2 which was not as advanced as I'd hoped) I need something more.

This is the best Tae Bo tape to begin with. Make sure you first watch the instructional second half where Billy explains the kicks and punches, etc.
Then rewind to the start and get ready to sweat! The Tae Bo system is the most fun aerobic exercise programme around and it does work. Once you master this tape, move on to Advanced or Tae Bo 5 - Active. (I recommend the Active tape because it contains both a basic and advanced workout.)
Enjoy!

I've got about six different exercise videos - and easily get bored of them. I'd heard about Tae Bo over the internet and, aswell as seeing AMAZING before and after pics of people who had slimmed down and toned up by using it the overwhelming response was, "It's fun". Fun? A fitness video? You're kidding! BUT...I've always been interested in taking up a martial art but with little time and little money I knew it wasn't going to happen soon. Tae Bo is based on Tae Kwon Do and seemed the solution to my problem. It was! Tae Bo is all about punches and kicks (no jumping up and down and spotty dogs - yay! ) and it makes you feel SO strong! It's great after a stressful day because you get to imagine who you're punching! The video is made up of two parts - the live Tae Bo session & the Instructional part. I really recommend you do the instructional part first to make sure you are punching and kicking properly. I'm not the most co-ordinated person in the world but I picked this up quickly - AND I enjoyed it!

This workout is great, i was really unfit before using this video and at first it was a struggle but in a matter of about 3 weeks I could do it no problem. You know your working your body when doing it and you notice results within days, plus you feel so much better about yourself! The only thing I would say which isn't so good is that it works more the upper part of your body and not so much anything else especially the legs. Also I wish he meant it when he says it's the last set! I've bought the abs and glutes video to work more other parts of my body.
This video is great for beginners and tae bo is simply the best!

I recently bought the Billy Blanks Future of Fitness workout video, and I think it's fab! I've never tried other workout videos because to be honest, I've never really needed to. But this one seemed fun, and whilst I'm definetely not fat, I thought I could do with some toning. I've not had it long, but the muscles in my thighs are starting to show, and I don't feel as sluggish as I usually do. It's really great for taking my mind off other things, and in a strange way, it is actually a nice break. Overall there's nothing too strenuous on the video, which is just how I like it, but the kicks do have me breaking out in a sweat, and I rarely complete the whole set of them. But nevertheless, it is a great buy!

I found out about Tae-Bo in an American magazine early last 1999, but unfortunately, could not get the exercise tapes in the UK.
I have had this exercise tape for about three weeks now, and after the first time using it, I understand why all those people on Billy Blanks' website, managed to lose so much weight!
It is so, so easy to follow, and you feel it working IMMEDIATELY. Although the first routine is only about half an hour, you sweat more than any other exercise tapes that I have ever used (believe me that I have tried too many).
This tape is absolutely BRILLIANT. You definitely won't regret geting this workout tape!

After all the hype I though this video would really take me to tae-bo, as my work and kids commitments make it hard to attend scheduled classes. The idea of two 30 minute halves is good, but the first half is too quick to follow, especially as the camera focuses everywhere but on the legs and always remains frontal. The second half is more a demonstration of the moves than a work-out, so you spend 30 minutes with the video but do not end up with the feeling of a real work-out. There is also a lot of talk that sounds designed to exclude all liability in case of injury - sadly all a bit of a waste of money!
