I expected the book to look good and it does. What I was more interested in was the quality of the recipes. I've found them original (not in a ground breaking way but imaginative takes on old favourites) and reliably good. I've owned enough recipe books to be wary of newcomers - there's nothing more frustrating than misjudged quantities, incorrect cooking time, cheaty ingredients. These recipes are fun to cook and delicious to eat. Bill's chicken Caesar has already become a staple (I've never had better), his slow cooked lamb, although slightly more complicated, is a great improvement on other versions I've tried and the marmalade flapjacks are gorgeous - not too sweet as is so often the case. Of course there are recipes I won't be tempted by but mainly I'm excited by the prospect of cooking my way through the book. An excellent addition to my collection!

disapointing! 21 Jun 2011
Format:Hardcover
I have been a great fan of Bill's since it opened and have yearned for the day that Bill published a cook book, and so when I saw it in the Lewes store last week - I bought it immediately! the reason I'm disapointed is that most of the recipes are straight forward and fairly obvious to create - 'stewed fruit,' 'broad bean mash and mint,' 'rhubarb and banana smoothie,' 'eggs benedict.' I was hoping for his wonderful 'pumkin and roasted vegetable lasagne,' 'morrocan tagine' and some other great Bill's favourites! there's no great suprises and I suppose thats because Bill does'nt want to give away all of his recipes because we wont still go there! Clever! But I still love Bill's and will always frequent it whenever I'm in that neck of the woods!

A great read 22 Jun 2011
Format:Hardcover
Having worked in origination in the printing industry for 36 years I have been involved with many cookbooks. This one far exceeds any that I can recall before with recipes being done in seasons with the produce from that season. I thoroughly recommend this as it really is 5-star

Good ideas and nice pictures, but very limited content
I was disappointed with this book. The recipes that are there are good, however, there are not many of them and most of the book seems to be pretty pictures. Read more
