Brlliant bit of kit 29 Sep 2011

Outstanding ADSL2+ router that will suit a busy home or small business.

Set up is easy, though it is best to download th full .pdf manual from Billion as the booklets supplied do have tiny print. This router is also extremely configurable and there is a hidden SNR tweak that allows you to adjust the SNR to obtain better speeds, just add /snr.cgi to the end of the interface URL to access this.

I have used this router and "tweak" to gain 2.5MB on my synch speed and can run at settings other routers crashed on.

Just come back to edit this as I have now had time to play more with the "Tweak" settings and now have a synch of 775 / 16212 kbps and the line works perfectly 24/7 , so that is an improvement of over 6MB/s which is incredible.

Great modem router 5 Aug 2011
By davidc
I have had a bad experience with the many Netgear and other wireless modem/routers I tried and the Billion 7800N has been wonderful. Always reliable, never drops the connection. Strong wireless signal around a big house and solidly built. I also use the 7800 (wired) on another adsl connection and this has been great too. Really headache free. Very strong recommendation.

this was a nice easy to use router, much better than some and with a detailed manual for anyone not sure fo what there meant to be doing,

basic operation cna be setup using the built in wizard via a simple to use http interface, and since it isnt a wifi router there's no need to disable that :)

the advanced configurations are also easy to setup even for a novice providing the user manual is followed, although i would recomend anyone getting one of thease to upgrade the firmaware to the latest version,

i gave it 5 starts because unlike a lot of the other cheaper products after 1 month i have had zero connection errors and apart from 2 manual restarts it hasnt dropped the line once unlike the bthomehub v2 i had before which wasnt up to the job and always droped the connection (10+ tiems a day)
