Product Description

CD Description

* This is the Edsel label's sixth release in its re-issue programme of legendary singer-songwriter Janis Ian's catalogue. All the releases contain photos from her own collection.

* "Billie's Bones" was originally released in 2004, and co-produced by Janis, Jeff Balding and Marc Moreau. It was recorded in Nashville and includes the Woody Guthrie co-write "I Hear You Sing Again" and guest vocals from Dolly Parton on "My Tennessee Hills".

* "Folk Is The New Black", released in 2005, sees Janis return to her roots with a true folk album - in her own words: "sparse but tasteful instrumentation underneath powerful lyrics of social and political social commentary, with enough variety to keep the listener beguiled".

It has taken me many years to catch up with the work of this creative and innovative artist and I'm so glad I did. Really enjoy these double albums.
