5.0 out of 5 stars Genius; the funniest comedian I have ever heard. 13 July 2001
Bill Hicks is a name not well known in this country, but he was one of the funniest, and most thought-provoking comedians to ever ply the trade. His views on the world were too extreme for many and this probably resulted in him not making it on mainstream tv but if you are not easily offended and refuse to believe that the 'establishment' is all-knowing Bill Hicks is the man for you. I bought this video based soley on 2 minutes of his material that appeared in the Preacher comic series. It was the best thing I ever did. The man was a genius, Dennis Leary has a lot to thank him for. Bill Hicks RIP

5.0 out of 5 stars Bill Hicks is dead, long live Bill Hicks 12 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This video captures Bill at his darkest, the segment recorded in London was done when he knew his time here with us was short. He takes us on a ride of humour that will leave you with a sense of social conscious, because while you laugh so hard that you feel like bursting, you will also say, 'man this is so true'. If you are tired of this world and its very plastic entertainment which tends to treat us as simpletons then, buy this and get your feet back into the real world, show it to your teenagers so that they will learn that there was a time when people between the ages of 18 and 40 actually cared

When growing up through life, were there ever questions in your mind that you could never find the answers for? Whether it be TV, Newspapers, Books or general conversations with other human beings, none of these feel they have a licence to tell the truth, or perhaps they are too scared to.
So enter Bill Hicks! A man who was NOT scared to speak his mind, regardless of how it would be received by others. Therefore it would be nieve to treat this masterpiece as simply another comedy video. Bills genius was his ability to convert some of his most controversial thoughts and aggressive attacks, on the many levels of hipocracy that exist in our world, and make it funny for us. Anything from your everday person on the street, to the Governments who want to control our lives.
In many ways we are all guilty of this hipocracy in some form or another, and it is just a matter of time when watching this video that Bill will touch a note that applies to you.
I quote, "Drugs have done good things for us, and anyone who doesn't believe that, should gather up their tapes/records/cd's and throw them in the bin".
This is more than just a video, it is a reference manual, and despite the mans untimely death i would emplore anyone out there, to be able to challenge his thoughts.

The first half of this video is a tribute to the late Bill Hicks with such "luminaries" as Jay Leno and David Letterman (?). Interviewees also include Hicks' Mum and Dad , friends, and fellow comedians. The second half is one of his shows filmed at the Dominion theatre. I would've awarded 5 stars but I wasn't too keen on the first half.
I'm sure I don't really need to spell out what Hicks was about. Needless to say, it is a joy to see Hicks attacking such destructive and brainwashing concepts as religion, capitalism and, worst of all, commercial music!
The man was a legend....

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead...but still funnier than anyone else 2 Feb 2001
Bill Hicks never achieved mass recognition in his lifetime. And as is so often the case, it is only now he's dead that people start to find out about him, which is a genuine shame. He is compared most often to Lenny Bruce and George Carlin, and I think it's fair to say this.
Hicks didn't tell jokes, he told everyone how he saw the world, but used laser-guided humour and savage contempt for anything that appealed "to the cattle instinct of y'all". Anything was fair game, be it the hypocrisy of the pornography industry ("all models are 18...these are models now, yeah right, and I'm an amusement engineer") to the faults with George Bush and Clinton.
This video gives you his last ever performance in the UK along with a tribute video with family, friends, peers and imitators paying homage to a truly original voice in comedy.
