His taste for the unpredictable in live performance has led him to collaborations with countless of the world’s top rock and jazz musicians, in an endless search for the innovative, the unusual, and the unlikely. For forty years after his beginnings in progressive rock, Bruford remained a vital force in all things percussive. His life’s work is well documented on CD and DVD at Summerfold and Winterfold Records, in his recent book ‘Bill Bruford: The Autobiography’, and at www.billbruford.com. He retired from public performance in 2009.
