Reviews

Bill Bailey joins forces with composer Anne Dudley and the BBC Concert Orchestra for an evening of music and comedy in this BBC special. Using both contemporary and classical references, Bill explains, in his unique way, the nuances of how the orchestra works and the lesser-known influences of various classical composers. Also included are some of his own original works, arranged and performed by himself and the orchestra under the guidance of musical maestro Anne Dudley.

As this is the blu-ray edition, I should point out first that the picture quality is really quite eye popping, by that I mean the camera work within the Royal Albert Hall - Bill is always eye popping!!
With co-stars Ann Dudley (conductor) and the BBC Concert orchestra, this is like attending a party and being introduced to all the characters who are there, Oboe, Trombone, Bassoon (hilarious) - you'll see and hear top flight musicians who play beautifully and at the same time 'let their hair down' (again, something that Bill does all the time).
For me, this disc is something of a jewel in the crown in an extensive collection of dvd's and blu-ray, it's a multi faceted jewel too, funny, educational, startling at times and some fab music.
Worth every penny!

Being a musical family I bought this for christmas for us to enjoy. I wasn't disappointed. Bill Bailey expertly combines comedy with the orchestra, and the musical banter is top form. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a wide range of musical genres and comedy.

The humor in this is amazing will have you splitting your sides with laughter. Although it was bought as a gift its a good excuse to invite yourself round for tea and a film.
