In this sequel to 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure', our airheaded heroes (Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter) are killed by two robot replicas of themselves, sent from the future by evil Nomolos to prevent them becoming the saviours of the world. The robots set about destroying their reputation but luckily Bill and Ted's spirits have a second chance at life if they can beat the Grim Reaper in a game - and the Grim Reaper has never played 'Twister' before.

Two years on from the original and we are into the nineties. Grunge has taken over from hair metal, and some intelligence has been injected back into rock music. Therefore the antics of slackers Bill and Ted do not have the same impact as they had in their first movie. However, this is still a worthy sequel, and a funny movie.

In the future, the music of Bill and Ted has led to world peace, but a maniacal villain decides that if he can go back to before Bill and Ted were famous and kill them, he can change the future thus preventing their music from being heard. He creates two robot versions of Bill and Ted who quickly kill the humans and take over their lives. If the robots mess up the Battle of the Bands contest, the future will be sealed. Meanwhile Bill and Ted find themselves in Hell, their eternities going to be spent living a constant ironic punishment. This can be seen as a metaphor for the decisions youth must make- should we be forced to choose one path and follow it for the rest of our lives? Like the first film, the theme of choices, and what to do with your life is prominent here. Bill and Ted however realise the alternative- Defeat Deat at Chess, and return to the land of the living once more. This they do, and return to earth, via Heaven, to take back their lives, and save the world. Death comes along too.

The film has many moments of humour, lots of one liners and keeps the charm of the first outing. Yes it is all still very simple, with the message that music can heal the world being a little child-like and dated. However, if you read the message as being-music is escapism, freedom, then it works better than most other films. Reeves and Winter again are perfect for their roles, Death is excellent, and Rufus is as cool as always.

The hilarious sequel to Excellent Adventure, Bogus Journey is equally as funny but perhaps lacks a certain level of charm that Excellent adventure has. Death is a fantastic character and the twister scene is a hilarious parody on Seventh Seal's chess game with death (or so I've heard!!) If you liked the first Bill & Ted then you'll like this too. As long as you can watch them without taking them too seriously you'll enjoy these very humorous films.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is a sequel that is suprisingly entertaining and is a good mix of comedy and science fiction. Bill is played by Alex Winter and Ted is played by Keanu Reeves. Many know Alex Winter from the "The Lost Boys" film (a great vampire movie by the way). Keanu Reeves is widely known for the "Matrix films". This movie centers around Bill and Ted's journeys through the afterlife via the means of a time travel phone booth and doing battle with the robots that are the more mischevious versions of themselves. They also end up having to simultaneously deal with the tasks of saving their partners(who they met when traveling to the 15th century time period) and the world at the same time. Along their journey they encounter the grim reaper (played by William Thomas Sadler), recieve help to accomplish their mission from fellow time traveler Rufus (played by George Carlin), and save the world from a man named De NoMolos who wants to rule the world and utilize the time travel medium for scandalous aims (played by English actor Joss Ackland). The movie involves Bill and Ted alternating between the 1990's time period, the realms of the afterlife, and the future time period of 2691. I admit that part of the reason why I enjoyed this movie is because Keanu Reeves is one of the actors I admire. However, both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves gave good performances as Bill and Ted. I read online that there may be another sequel to this movie to come out in the future. I admit that I am going to watch the future sequel if it is released because Bill and Ted's bogus journey is very funny. This is the type of movie to watch if you are looking for something to make you laugh.Read more ›

What worked in the first film seems to come across as cras and dull in this sequel. I found parts incredibly dull, plot lines even more tenuous than would be expected and some scripting downright horrific. That said, some parts had me in fits of laughter - I think the film just suffers the stereotypical sequel crash.......
I would recommend it for die hard Bill and Ted fans, or those who want a fairly fun and not very demanding film to enjoy at a cheap price. Let's just say its not going to be on any top 100 lists in the near future!

This film never fails in making me laugh my head off. This one of those great little gems of a movie that brightens up even the most Bogus days.Everyone in the world should see this film! Its funny in so many ways and this means adults can enjoy it as well as smaller dudes and dudettes.Alex Winter's head full of mini curls and Hottie Keanu Reeves with hair that looks like his mum has cut it creates the perfect image for these teenage heros.I love this movie and I'm sure you will too. Remember "Be most excellent to each other and PARTY ON!"
