Product Description

The Bikers Movement is dedicated to freedom, unwilling to be constrained by what they see as the petty laws and regulations of a society whose values they reject. For the first time an unselfconscious analysis of the nature of this freedom is presented by a real Biker. The Bikers Movement has always demanded the attention of the public. The book demonstrates how they have jealously guarded their right to a dreamworld of their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb history 17 Jun 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A succinct, intelligent and revealing history of the evolution of the outlaw biker culture by the late and much-lamented Dr Maz Harris of HAMC. The often-amusing and relevant photos add to the excellent text - highly recommended!

So good to see that what you are advertising is exactly what you get - a great pity it wasn't like that in all aspects of life. Great to deal with good honest people. Thank you.

Great history book. This book covers primarily the British bike rebels but is also a good foundation for those interested in the American 1% as well. A must have book for the historian!

This is a pretty complete view of the motorcycle scene in England up until 1968. If you've seen the movie "Quadraphenia" (Spelled wrong,no doubt), then you have a pretty good idea of the photos and text of this book, from the "Rockers" side anyway. The Rockers were the Brit boys who rode real motorcycles ( British, of course) as opposed to the Scooterists who rode Italian Vespas and Lambrettas. I ordered this book knowing only that the author had been an officer in the Hells Angels MC, England. I was hoping for more information about the transformation from the Rockers to the officially chartered HAMC of today. Alas, none was forthcoming and that was the disappointment. I already knew that various biker groups in England had banded together and formed imitation and unauthorized Hells Angels clubs, wearing crude copies of the real HA patch. They rode Triumphs, BSAs, Nortons and even some Honda 750s. They were WAY behind the real California originals on every level. The granting of real HAMC charters from California in 1969 was only the beginning of the creation of the real thing in England and the rest of the UK.
THAT's what I'd hoped to learn more about. but given the Angel's penchant for minding their own business, I should not have been surprised.
