Product Description

A two-part adventure from the recent animated children's series plus another episode. Three of the baddest mamajammers, Throttle, Vinnie and Modo, are back on Earth and ready to rumble. They're hip, tough, funny and, above all, feel the need for speed. They also have hearts as big as their helmets. In 'The Adventure Begins: Part 1' the mice need to prevent the evil Catatonians from capturing the Regenerator, which could save Mars from drought because it has the ability to convert dirt into any substance needed. 'The Adventure Begins: Part 2' sees the last remaining Regenerator destroyed and the mice having to take the Creator of the Regenerator, General Stoker, to Planet Earth to find the components to build another one. Finally, in 'It's the Pits' the mice encounter the biggest, baddest baddie of them all, The Pit Boss, and another band of enemies to fight, The Plutarkians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock and Ride! A first class return for the Bros 20 Nov 2006
"In this wild and woolly universe there are three things you can count on - your brains, your bros, and your bikes". So said Throttle in the original series of 'Biker Mice From Mars' and the same is true of the new series.

The three episodes contained within this DVD have something for everyone, whether fans of the original series or newcomers. Though essentially a scene-setting story, 'The Adventure Begins' takes advantage of its two episodes to give a proper introduction; however, newcomers may find they would wish for a little more background on certain issues which long time fans are already familiar with - for example, the relationship between Vinnie and Charley. Perhaps this could have been included amongst the extras.

Nevertheless, from my point of view this is a minor quibble. Some established fans may baulk at the slimmed down appearence of the principle characters, but the main thing is the voices and characters are the same as ever. The third episode on the DVD, 'It's the Pits', offers a wave of nostalgia with the return, albeit for guest appearences, of three classic 'Biker Mice' villains. All in all, the humour, characters and sharp dialogue that marked 'Biker Mice' as a cut above the rest in its original form are all present and correct.

The Catatonians are more than adequate replacements for the Plutarkians; Supreme Commander Hairball in particular is an absolute joy and a fine example of comedic villainy.

The extras feature brief biographies of the three mice - useful to newcomers if not old hands, but with some nice graphics of their bikes - and a version of the title sequence showing original sketch work, which is worth seeing if only to get a glimpse of the complexity of the animation.
