Book Description

20 Mar 2014
Bikenomics provides a surprising and compelling new perspective on the way we get around and on how we spend our money, as families and as a society. Bicycle transportation is good for a lot of things: it's healthy, it's green, it's quiet, it's fun and it builds community. It also makes financial sense and the magnitude of bicycling's economic impact gets far less attention than it deserves. In Bikenomics, Elly Blue explores the scope of that impact, from personal finance to local economies to the big picture of the national budget.

The book is downloading as grey text. Tried other books they are OK. Tried the free sample having paid for the main book and it is grey text too. Suspect a book software fault. Can you fix it please?

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrible formatting (has now been fixed). Great read! 15 Feb 2014
By James Langford - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really want to give this book a good rating, but I can't because the formatting is so bad that it's nearly illegible on my Paperwhite. Instead of the nice, black letters that every other book I've bought from Amazon has, this one's are a faint grey, which makes reading it very difficult and unpleasant on a Kindle (it looks fine on a tablet, apparently).

I urge the author to get in touch with her publisher and Amazon and demand that this be changed. I'd love to be able to come back and give the book the high rating it probably deserves (I haven't been able to read past the first few pages). The book wasn't cheap and I feel defrauded.

*Amazon has finally gotten around to fixing the formatting problems, so I can now heartily recommend this fine book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Got my wheels turning 28 Jun 2014
By Drew W. Lehmann - Published on
This book is thought-provoking and got me thinking about how people get around. And it got me thinking about getting back on my bicycle. The book is well-written, well-researched, and presents a balanced approach to the challenges of adjusting cities to be more bike-friendly. But it also prevents practical solutions and success stories of cities that have promoted bicycling. It's a great book for understanding how beneficial bicycling can be to personal physical and financial health as well as local economies.
