As the title states, this is a graphic novel for adults only and anyone who is familiar with the artwork of Oliver Frey, who is also known as Zack, will not be disappointed with this collection of four pieces of Frey's outstanding artwork.
Published by Bruno Gmunder, this celebration of Frey's artistic talent is shown in Bike Boy which tells of the homo-erotic adventures of a young lad and the guys he meets on his motorcycle journey. The second story is entitled Tender Bait and is set in a town in south east Asia where a chance meeting leads to inevitable homo-erotic behaviour. The third story features a lad called Kyle Jansen who goes to a party and understands what it is like to be Slaves To Lust. Teasy Meat is the final story and features nineteen year old Puerto Rican, Ricky, finding himself in some unusual encounters.
Oliver Frey beautifully illustrates the four stories and as an artist of cult homo-eroticisim, he belongs amongst the other greats like Tom of Finland, Belasco, Patrick Fillion and Mark. Frey made his name as a homo-erotic artist during the late 70's/early 80's with illustrations appearing in British gay magazines like Him Monthly and Vulcan and illustrated the popular Him Gay Library. He also illustrated the monthly comic strip 'The Street' but is most famously known for the creation of cult figure, Rogue, whose homo-erotic adventures were collected in a graphic magazine in the 80's. His artwork is also featured in a number of America's Meatmen books. Ultimately, Frey went on to illustrate gaming magazines and remains one of Britain's most iconic artists.
Hopefully, Bike Boy will be the first in a series to feature Oliver Frey's artwork and an even greater hope is that the Rogue stories are reprinted in a graphic novel form for readers to enjoy and admire.
Highly recommended, and at a very affordable price thanks to Amazon, for those who appreciate homo-erotic art.
