Durability:    Fun:
These are excellent little engines and essential for any wooden train set.
Buy decent batteries though as cheap ones lose their power too fast. Takes a single AAA battery, you'll need a very small pozi screwdriver to access the battery.
We now have 2 of these engines - one can pull whilst the other pushes in reverse from the rear; sandwiched between 10 carriages or more.
The train can cope with hills and the kids love it.
Brings a wooden train set to life!

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
Despite adding lots of fun to a recently bought train set, the battery in this engine only lasted for 24 hours! It was on a lot but I didn't expect it to run out so quickly. It is also a bit on the slow side but has managed to pull up to 8 carriages, even up hills. My daughters (ages 6, nearly 4 and 2) have really been enjoying it though and one of them is particularly impressed that it seems able to push any obstacles off the track!

Great little train if you can't afford to buy the moving Thomas characters. has a little red light in both forward and reverse mode. Engine noise is fairly quiet, it's just a little on the slow side.

Fun but needs frequent battery changes
My son loves this engine as it propels itself round the track and can pull quite a few carriages. It never manages much speed but he doens't seem to mind. Read more

This is a great train. It works on the Brio wooden tracks etc and is larger than the standard trains. The only problem is that they go through batteries very quickly. Read more
