We had loads of existing track but only one set of points. This present for my son has made it possible to make lots of different layouts. It is brilliant and very good value.

This expansion pack really helps to create more interesting track layouts - I was getting bored with the limited track layouts we had before, although my son seemed happy enough. I was a little concerned about the quality when I read other reviews, but actually the quality is pretty good. We have a mixture of Brio, Thomas and Bigjigs and the differences in quality are not all that great. I wouldn't avoid using the Bigjigs track at all.

I bought this from MrToyBox who gave excellant service. I ordered it on the 9th, the delivery estimate said 14th to 17th, but it arrived on the 11th and this was using the standard (free) shipping service.

Advantages:
+ wide choice of track shapes
+ low price
+ compatible with BRIO (though see negative part)

Disadvantages:
- wood quality is noticeably worse than that of BRIO, not that you can get a splinter but nevertheless
- in our set we have one curved track that didn't fit well enough into any other tracks (even from the same set) - you need to push it really hard and sometimes this disappoints our child
- though tracks are compatible with BRIO the shapes are not exactly the same and battery driven trains may have some difficulties crossing Bigjigs-BRIO joints

Overall: not perfect, but significantly cheaper than BRIO. Good choice if you don't have extra money to spend on toys and ready to go with some imperfections.

This wooden track extension pack is brilliant. It did indeed merge comfortably with my sons other wooden sets and has been a FANTASTIC addition to my little mans track. Good value for money and definitely worth buying!!

The track is let down by poor quality machining. There are burrs around the edges of some pieces that might even give splinters. See image I've added to the gallery. The grooves in the points are also inaccurate which means that when pulling a train over the points the carriages behind will come off the track. Other points (e.g. Brio) don't do this.

After I received the item I got a friendly note from Bigjigs asking me for any feedback and saying to get in touch if there were any problems. I followed the link and left a message for them on Amazon but have had no reply in a week. Hence I'm leaving this review. I suspect this may be a dud batch?

Brought this set as the authentic Thomas expansion sets are ridiculously priced.

The selection of pieces is good and offers a whole lot more options than I had before. However I am slightly disappointed that the quality of the wood is nowhere near as good as the authentic 'learning curve' pieces we already own. The original pieces just got together very well and feel like they would look as good as new even after years of use. By contrast this set is made of the very cheapest pine, and consequently one or two of pieces had corners split off upon getting it out the box. This hasn't affected its functionality, although they are also a slightly loose fit. Also the very basic style and paler colour does also make for a patchwork effect when combined with a original beech set.

You get what you pay for and I guess, and arguably my complaints are only minor. This set clearly does represent good value. However I do also find myself rummaging through the whole set to find a 'learning curve' piece wherever possible. Which does make me wish the whole set was all the same.

I guess if you can stomach the cost of the authentic set, then do so. If not this is a great value alternative.
(I should point out mind you that my two year old son hasn't yet complained)!

Good variation of track pieces, quality isn't anywhere near as good as brio tracks but the trains work well enough on them.
