I have a decent range of fitness DVD's (Davina, Natalie Cassidy, Nell McAndrew etc) and I am always on the look out for a good and worthwhile new release. As well as Hannah Waterman's (which is also excellent - I have reviewed that one too on Amazon) I got this one a couple of days ago and I have now had time to complete it twice.
The DVD is broken down in to many different options, which is great. There are 7 main workouts to choose from, which are various combinations of the different workout sections and then in the `Extras' bit there are some additional workouts so plenty to choose from. I really liked this as it means you can pick a workout combo based on how much time (or energy!) you have. The two trainers, Angie and Richard run different workouts and they both have very different styles. Angie is very matter-a-fact, down to earth and I liked her manner and methods of motivation. Richard is a lot more jolly, so to speak, and often tells you to keep smiling! He is also great in a different way and I enjoyed the variety of having different trainers for different sections. I also liked that this is a trainer based workout and not a celebrity one as you get down to earth people training you and they are reassuringly normal.
The exercises themselves are pretty tough but you can tell they will be effective and I did feel it the day after I ran through it so a big tick there. The pace is good and its a real mix of cardio and "whole body" moves which is excellent as you feel like you're working lots of muscles in one go. I also liked the way that most of the main routines included some ab's, so you could just do one routine if you were short on time and still get a good overall workout.
Angie and Richard are joined in the main workout's by some of the Biggest Loser contestants which was very refreshing and everyone (trainers included) looks properly puffed and tired at the end of the sections - just like I did!!
The DVD also includes exercise and motivation tips which were useful and would be particularly so if you're new to exercise/weight loss.
Overall this is a great DVD and very effective. The variety and sheer number of workouts and combinations makes it a good long term purchase and it won't be one you get bored of very quickly. A great purchase if you prefer down to earth approaches without the celebrity ad in that is so common in fitness DVD's at the moment.
