5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Bigger Better Faster More, 10 Oct 2003
I bought this album 10 years ago because of the fantastic "What's Up" and it's still one of my most played cds. I love all the songs on the cd but "Pleasantly Blue" "Spaceman" "Morphine and Chocolate" and of course "What's Up" are my favourites. It's not one for your quiet romantic moments but is an excellent rock cd (with a bluesy feel in some songs). I went to see the band in concert when "What's Up" was still riding high and they were brilliant with all the album songs coming even more alive on stage. It's a shame the band didn't do more together but Linda Perry is now doing very well writing for people like Pink and has a very different but equally good solo cd "In Flight"

4.0 out of 5 stars Big, Better, Fast... just no More..., 19 Mar 2006
By P. Brown - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
If your likes list contains any of Blondie, Pink, Avril Lavigne, The Pretenders, and (perhaps particularly) Skunk Anansie, then this album - from the depths of 1993 - is an absolute must buy and is a reference piece in its own right.

Linda Perry's voice is mixed to sit clearly 'above' (and in some cases 'apart' from) the songs - with sometimes heavy reverb to give space around, and freeing her acid etching voice - strong and enthalling (much like Skin from S&A) - and giving a sense of her voice as an instrument in its own right.

The album is a very strong and consistent romp through 90's alternate rock - the confident song writing and execution evident in all tracks. Good pacing offers some welcome rest stops in the ride... however it's not one to play if you are feeling even remotely head-achey... you have been warned!

Stand out (and shortest!) track - 'Pleaseantly Blue'.

The only real down-side really is that this is the band's only album, Perry departing, leaving only a sense of 'what might have been'. Find her in her own solo-right, and in collaborations with (at least) Pink and Gwen Stefani.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most treasured cd in my collection!, 30 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Bigger, Better, Faster, More is the most intense album that I own. The reason I bought this album in the first place was due to the unforgettable "Whats Up" but I was pleasantly surprised with the rest of the tracks. Whats Up is not the best track on this cd as it is compared to tracks like Spaceman which didnt make it far in the British Charts but to me is a classic, its more of a soft rock ballad. One of my favorites is Pleasantly Blue which is a combination of Rock and blues. Each track has its own character but the reason that your ears stick up when you hear this music is due to the bold vocals of frontwoman Linda Perry who's razor sharp voice grabs your attention, she being the reason that you will play this album till its worn out. Why she is not a household name is beyond me. Other albums to check out are her solo albums "In Flight" and "After Hours". If your an alternative rock fan then this is a timeless classic that you should own.
