The second purchase of my old collection, yet another massive album to which i remembered the words to. Althugh i am going through my wish list starting with the cheapest purchases, this is by no means a cheap album.

The hard delivering of lyrics by LL COOL J is just so fresh, even in the year 2010, not to mention the sample deliveries and other additions of musical genious this man creates to produce such a brilliant album. I also have RADIO on my wish list and can't wait to purchase that AGAIN.

"Bigger and Deffer" was LL Cool J's second album and as the title suggests it was a vast improvement on his first effort "Radio". Not only was his music bigger and deffer but also his ego. This album shows just what a diverse talent Uncle L is and the album includes a range of styles such as the guitar driven "I'm Bad", the Do Wop based track "The Do Wop" as well as the gentle love ballad "I Need Love" (which is by far the best track on this album and is still one of the best rap tracks of all time). However traditional hip hop is what LL Cool J does best and generally the rest of the album has a more traditional hip hop feel to it as is highlighted by the tracks "Get Down", "My Rhyme Ain't Done" and "Go Cut Creator Go". The album really shows just what a great lyricist and vocalist LL is, a fact which has sadly been forgotten with the commercial hype that this genre has received in the nineties. Overall it's a great album and is worth buying just to have the track "I Need Love".

I'm gonna need backup 15 Jan. 2005
By Johnny Heering - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a strong album by one of the top rappers of all time. LL was really at the top of his game here. His rhymes were fresh and often funny. And his deejay Cut Creator provided some excellent samples for him to rap to. The album included his first hit single, "I Need Love", which was also the first important rap ballad. Fans of old school rap should enjoy this album a lot.

My LL Cool J "Bigger and Deffer" Review 25 April 2010
By Mister E - Published on Amazon.com
This is possibly one of my favorite albums of all time. I remeber hearing songs off this when I was like in third grade. Matter of fact I need love is what really got me hooked on Rap/Hip-Hop. I can pretty much listen to this album start to finish and not skip through a song. LL was a beast back then. Your talkin about a guy who used to murder cats in a battle. Some say Uncle L has fell off and maybe his subsequent albums have not been as good, but this album right here is the truth. I used to listen to this album every day in fourth and fifth grade and it inspired me to write lyrics of Cool J's in love letters to girls(too funny). This album will always hold a special fondness in my heart. Here is the breakdown of my ratings:

1. I'm Bad-5 Stars
2. Kanday-5 Stars
3. Get Down-4 Stars
4. The Bristol Hotel-5 Stars
5. My Rhyme Ain't Done-5 Stars
6. .357-Break It On Down-3 Stars
7. Go Cut Creator Go-3 Stars
8. The Breakthrough-4 Stars
9. I Need Love-5 Stars
10. Ahh, Let's Get Ill-5 Stars
11. The Do Wop-5 Stars
12. On the Ill Tip-1 Star

Usually Skits, Intros, Interludes, and Outros only get a one star rating (definitely if all there is talking). 5 Stars go on my favorites Playlist. It should also be stated that my ratings are based purely on how much I like the Songs. I don't take too much into the popularity of a Song. My ratings are not always a sign that I think a Song or Album are better than another.

The real LL 21 Sept. 2008
By Kurupt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is is my favorite release by LL cool J besides the first album Radio. This album follows the same format of the first a lot of dope boom bap with one love song and one song about a girl. This version of LL is hungry, spits lyrics, and just isn't soft. The way he is spitting the lyrics and the way his voice sounds you can tell he was in the booth giving everything that he had to make the songs/album dope. That is the LL I know and love. The current LL that makes 90 percent of his albums love fluff with wack guest appearances is horrible. Even his love songs during this era are more hip hop than the one's he drops now. Ah well, if only he could return to the type of emcee he was on releases like this.

Standouts
Bad
Kanday
I need love
My rhyme ain't done

One of the Greatest Rap Albums Ever! 1 May 2005
By M. DeTorrice - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This was my very first rap album. After listening to it just once, I was hooked. His fluidity is amazing on this album. If you ask me he was way ahead of his time. I will never say anything bad about LL, his longevity and hit list is too great. There is a good amount of versatility on this album, something rap of today lacks. Not one of the songs have anything similar except rapping. His hooks are always solid. His word play is stellar. LL has always been underrated and its really a shame. If you've never bought an LL album, this is a great one to start with. If you are not familiar with this old school classic, you should do yourself a favor and get it. This is seriously one of the greatest rap albums and I think anyone who has it or hears it would agree.
