Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Killer™ 2100 is the only gigabit network card designed from the ground up for online games.

Simply install Killer™ 2100 into your PC, plug your network cable into it and you are ready to go. Now, Killer™ 2100 will detect game traffic as it enters your PC, prioritize it over all other network traffic, and get it to and from your game faster than any other network card.

Killer™ 2100 delivers game traffic up to ten times faster than any other network card. Fast game traffic means faster kills, extra loot and more wins in all your online games.

Yes, a Gaming Network Card. Your “dumb” NIC relies on Windows and your CPU to do all of its work – when Windows and your CPU should be running your game.During a game, a “dumb” NIC can have huge, unpredictable latency spikes. Killer™ 2100 has latency in MICROseconds. Which means your bullet gets on the wire first. In short – pwnage.

So How Does It Work?

Game Networking DNA. We detect game data at the wire using our Game Detect Technology. We offload that data to the Network Processing Unit (NPU) on Killer™ 2100. Offloaded traffic goes around Windows for tremendous speed benefits. Which means bullets, spells and grenades get to you faster so you can get out of the way, and get to your enemies faster so they can’t.

Unleash Your Fast CPU and Internet Connection

You’ve got a fast CPU with more cores than some people have teeth. You’ve got a FAT Internet connection with bandwidth to download a dictionary every millisecond. But you’re still making that CPU drop everything to answer the phone when it comes to network traffic. Why glue your PC and broadband connection together with 65 cents worth of dumb connectors?

Must try harder 13 Feb 2011
Not convinced at all about this - obviously the ad would have you beleive it'll radically improve problems with lag / response etc. I bought it mainly for use with COD black ops but once the card was installed and setting sorted I started getting all manner of lock - ups, freezes and other issues (along with the usual steam related lost connection nonsense) so just as a test tried going back to the motherboard's normal ethernet port and all but the lost connection issues went away immediately. Also frankly I couldn't notice any discernable difference in game performance while using the card.

It's possible I may have got some settings wrong but I checked pretty thoroughly - dissapointed to be honest.

I purchased this card to free network load from PRC and improve latency in MMO games. As advertised by manufacturer. This card reduces latency (percent of improvement depends on game), thus, interaction with NPCs and spells/abilities respond without delay. I'm very happy with results this card showed, and would advise it to any MMO game player.

I bought this card to install in an X58 Gulftown based platform to ensure comms delays and latency were minimised during online gaming. What a disappointment. After installing reasonably smoothly I transferred my LAN cable from a gigabit port on the motherboard to the Killer NIC.
I have a 37meg broadband link, so perhaps I was hoping for too much. After the shift of cable onto the NIC, NFSW started lagging badly, with periodic blank screens....not conduisive to winning races. The next problem came when i tried to uninstall, the uninstall failed and I had to disable my LAN adaptor to get a response from my system. In the end I managed to remove the Killer NIC and all traces of its software from my system. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I did the usual google searches and had a look on the Bigfoot forums to see if there was any help in resolving problems. Not much sign of help, but plenty of tumbleweeds blowing by. Some years ago I installed the PCI version of the Killer NIC on my son's desktop where it works well, not sure why my experience this time was so poor, and the lack of support means i'll never find out. As it damaged my comms links at uninstall I am not prepared to experiment further, so money effectively down the pan.
