If you want to see all the main roads in all of North America, then this may be the book. If you want to actually drive between one place and another, then this is near useless, especially if your route or destination is in the fold of a page. In this case the information you need simply disappears. The scales are necessarily simply too small to see enough information to let your navigator deal with decisions at junctions, slip roads, etc. In the end we obtained a free and excellent Ontario road map from a road side tourist information booth, used some pre-printed Google maps to find hotels and found a great Best Western hotels map for New York state. We left the Big Road Atlas behind as it wasn't worth wasting airline fuel to fly it back to England.
North America is huge and there are millions of roads and unless you want to drive the whole continent only on main roads, then save your money and choose one of the many better alternatives.

This is THE best map to use while travelling across America, I have done a road trip across the US from Boston to LA and I left the map in LA in our car (rented) and now I'm going back to do anouther one. so happy that they added Canda and Mexica as I'm popping into Canada.

Excellect value and really useful to get an overall view of where we were going.
We still needed the sat nav to find specific locations, but to give us an idea of towns and places we were passing by we found the atlas very useful.
It was also useful when a road was closed by hurricane/floods and we had to find an alternative route.
