Book Description

1 July 2002

An exciting new collection of over thirty short stories interspersed with illustrations, cocktail recipes and lists of songs for a guaranteed BIG NIGHT OUT and set to repeat the phenomenal success of Girls' Night In and Girls' Night Out/Boys' Night In.

Following on from the bestselling anthologies Girls' Night In and Girls' Night Out/Boys' Night In comes the biggest collection yet in aid of the international charity War Child.

The theme is literally a BIG NIGHT OUT – any time, any place.

The anthology will feature approximately 35 short stories and some special features to punctuate the stories – illustrations, lists of songs for a big night out and cocktail recipes. Those already lined up include Kathy Lette, Candace Bushnell, Nick Hornby, Glen Baxter, Boy George, Julian Clary, Helen Lederer, Jenny Eclair, Gordon Ramsay, Marian Keyes.

Once again, all the contributors involved will provide their story/recipe/illustration etc. gratis, and HarperCollins will donate a least £1 to War Child for every copy sold, continuing the amazing work for children in war zones whose lives have been torn apart by conflict.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big Night Out covers everything! 30 Jun 2002
By laurenm
Format:Paperback
BIG NIGHT OUT is a great book covering everything you need for a great night out on the town. It is full of tips, solutions to common partying problems, and great short stories. I was laughing the entire time i read it. The pieces are all written by celebrities and the book benefits a good cause called war child. I especially enjoyed the short story by maggie alderson, the hangover breakfast recipe, and the music tips, but i loved almost every other story too. This book is part of a collection that includes two other books, which are also great and written in the same style and manner. They include: GIRLS NIGHT IN, and GIRLS NIGHT OUT/BOYS NIGHT IN. They too benefit the war child program. An overall summary of this book would be to say it is a humorous compilation of pieces written by celebrities to give you some courage to go and have a great time! It makes you want to throw out those old and dull clothes, and put on something snazzy and suitable for a wild night out. I only gave this four stars because i save the last star for timeless masterpieces, but if i were rating BIG NIGHT OUT using most peoples generous rating style it would receive that extra star.

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING 23 Sep 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I read Girl's About Town and loved it - and I thought this book would be the same but some of the stories were so dull and boring I can't believed they were ever published. The other book was great and the stories were very interesting - this was torture - I didn't even finish the book it was that bad.

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING BORING BORING 8 Feb 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is one of the worst books I've ever read. A collection of boring, stupid stories. Even worse "lists" of tips for a big night out. A few stories that brought the smile to my face. The rest was utter rubbish !! This book is a total waste of money and saying it is funny, witty etc is a BIG FAT LIE ! Sorry guys, I can not recommend this so called "book" as a read anything, except maybe to fall asleep to !
