Academy Award-winning animated comedy by Walt Disney Studios featuring the voice talents of Scott Adsit and Ryan Potter. 14-year-old robotics genius Hiro Hamada (Potter) spends his days being a typical teenager, getting into fights and struggling to cope with his changing body. When his older brother Tadashi (Daniel Henney) becomes concerned that his brother is wasting his potential, he takes him to the robotics lab at his university where he introduces him to Baymax (Adsit), an inflatable robot created and developed by Tadashi himself. Programmed to take care of humans, Baymax starts to work with Hiro and encourages him to focus on his invention of microbots. When Hiro and Baymax discover that someone has been copying his ideas and creating microbots of their own, the pair team up to find the masked assailant. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

I watched this marvellous family movie at the cinema with my 12 year old daughter a few days ago. Hiro is a 13 year old boy suffering from the tragic loss of his much loved older brother. However, he finds a new best friend in the plump medical android, Baymax, who helps Hiro to battle crime when a mysterious and Machiavellian masked man begins wreaking havoc in San Fransokyo, where Hiro lives... Big Hero 6 is a thrillingly bright and very energetic superhero team flick, packed full of rapid fire, aerobatic action scenes, and with a very engaging tale of a mourning boy's growing relationship with a compassionate and thoughtful robot. The robot looks like how the Michelin Man would appear if remade by Apple, his minimalistic face little more than an emoticon, but he still achieves cuddliness against the odds. It's in the robot's burgeoning friendship with the boy that we see Big Hero 6's most witty and heartwarming moments, which give a touching counter-balance to the film's amazing and stunningly visualised action sequences. San Fransokyo itself is a gorgeous blend of neon-lit alleyways, and whirring sky-turbines floating high above the city's streets, a light-hearted take on the world of Blade Runner (Harrison Ford). All in all, this is a brilliant family movie, with constant visual verve, energetic action, a touching tale of friendship, and with a lead character in Baymax who, just like Wall-E before him, has you genuinely caring about the fate of a robot. My daughter and I loved this film, it's easily the best family flick we've seen since last year's equally wonderful Boxtrolls - The Boxtrolls (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + UV Copy). Highly recommended. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

I took my 4 year old son to the cinema for this - I think it speaks volumes that the little guy hardly took his eyes from the screen except to say "This is brilliant Daddy!"
We have seen it a few times since and it has lost none of its appeal. It takes you through lots of emotional highs and lows, there are plenty of fun moments and dialogue plus some really great action sequences. Crucially, it manages to remain non-violent and therefore suitable for a young child.
The story is solid and while it was not possible to afford development for all of the main characters, everyone has their moment to shine and we do get to witness a blossoming and genuine friendship between Hiro and Baymax. And, of course, Baymax is just simply hilarious, especially in his earlier scenes.
Special mention to the music - brilliant - the first flight sequences are exhilarating! I shall go on no longer - this is a great movie. Easily one of my favorite Disney films and I cannot wait to buy the blu-ray!!

I'm almost sixteen and went to watch this with my friends on a whim because another film we wanted to watch was unavailable. And I can honestly say it's right up there in my favourite movies ever. It's not childish and has a very human plot, but it has some really humorous bit and had my friends and I absolutely wetting ourselves. I recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Now I think I'm off to watch it again :P

After a slightly clunky start, Big Hero 6 won me over, proving to be a vibrant, good looking, family friendly, funny slice of animation.
The main hero of the piece is erm Hiro, a young lad from the futuristic city of San Fransokyo - basically San Francisco with a cool oriental twist (but you probably figured that out). He forms an unlikely bond with an inflatable medical droid (Baymax) created by his big bro. It takes a bit of time to set the scene before Baymax rocks up and improves the film in almost every way.
It eventually becomes something of a super hero flick with all the usual ingredients - a tragic hero, a tragic villain, a superhero team with a variety of powers - it's all here and it's based on a Marvel comic book no less. It all looks glorious, there's plenty of action to fire things up, sympathetic characters you can root for, a good ratio of funny gags and of course a few life lessons thrown in.
The Marvel tradition of end credits sequences continues here so stick around until the ride has come to a complete stop. Overall, heartily recommended.
