Product Description

The Fast Forward sketch show ran for four years and featured some of the strongest comic performers ever to appear on Australian TV. Comediennes Jane Turner, Gina Riley & Magda Szubanski stood out with their wonderful sketches mimicking the TV industry and other aspects of Australian life. In 1994, Jane, Gina and Magda joined together to star in, write and produce the landmark sketch show comedy series, Big Girls Blouse. It was through this series that viewers were first introduced to the characters of Kath, Kim and sharon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kath and Kim - the early years, 24 Nov 2008
I bought for the wife as part of a Kath and Kim box set bundle as we are both big fans. The shows are sketch based and the jokes often flow from one to another.

Although i bought it predominantly for the roots of Kath and Kim, i have watched the other sketches time and again. The girls sense of humor is a scream at times. Although seemingly relegated to Kim's punch bag in the ongoing series, here Sharon demonstrates her ability to deliver lines just as good as the dynamic duo.

To pin point one sketch would do the others a disservice. I do feel though that a healthy upbringing on Paul Hogan shows put me in good stead for the Oz sense of humour.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kath and Kim fan, not a Big Girls Blouse, 21 Aug 2008

After seeing the whole of Kath & Kim, I decided to buy this. What a disappointment it was! The main reason I bought it was to see Kath & Kim the early years, and they were only very short and unfunny clips. The other characters I couldn't really get to grips with, like the snooty ladies who talk political nonsense, and the two nomads who try out different cultures. All-in-all, watch Kath & Kim (2002 onwards) because you aren't missing much here.

Also, Summer Heights High is the new Oz com which is about to rock the UK! Still love K&K!

5.0 out of 5 stars Immensely Funny!, 24 Feb 2009

This was really really good. I enjoyed Kath and Kim and this was just as good. It is just a shame that this is the only series by Gina Riley, Jane Turner and Magda Szubanski available. I would really love to see Fast Forward, Full Frontal and Something Stupid on DVD as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars One star is a generous mark here.
Although this is where the original skits that started the brilliance of "Kath and Kim", you can't really expect to find much hilarity here. Read more
