This is a great book with a great mixture of designs from sweaters and skirts to accessories. All the designs are given a guide as to what will suit you body shape ( boobs, bum or belly). At the start of the book is a fabulous guide on how to measure yourself and adapt knitting patterns to fit us larger girls perfectly. The patterns are fitted and not loose or tight just fitted. Although not all the patterns where to my taste I love the fact that I can now adapt my other patterns to fit me not just to hang as a sack. A must for any women who wants to adapt patterns and a must for big girls everywhere

And they mean it 1 Feb 2007

This book has big girl knits for real big girls. The first Patten in the book is around a 52" chest so if you were thinking 'oh it's another book that says big' you would be gladly wrong. The biggest criticism of this book seems to be that the models look too big in the clothes and the photos do not show the true potential of the garment but every girl in the book looks without fail beautiful, though sometimes the clothes do not look made for them, but, hold your breath, this is the point of the book.

The book starts off with a wonderfully complete guide to changing patterns up or down to your size (making it useful for the less ample too) and goes on to explain quite simply and very clearly how to alter patterns, how to flatter a particular asset, how to sculpt patterns and how most importantly how to measure yourself properly.

It's also really rather funny too.

Big Girls 5 May 2009

I have this and More Big Girl Knits. This book walks you through the process of adapting your patterns using your own measurements and kniting gauges. The 2nd book has more adaptations allowing you to really tailor an item to fit. Both have some nice project ideas + templates/forms for jotting down your numbers to make the mathamatics very easy to calculate and to understand how to adapt your patterns. I dont have other plus size books so cannot make comparisons, however I am happy with these books and would recommend them both
