Product Description

Product Description

Martin Chivers is a footballing legend. In an era of huge, towering centre forwards he stood apart, combining a huge frame with cunning and grace - he looked like a target man but played like an angel. Between 1968 and 1976 Chivers played 278 games for Spurs, scoring 118 goals. He is still Spurs' top European goalscorer. In Big Chiv! Martin Chivers candidly looks back at a life that was from an early age driven by one thing and one thing alone - the desire to score goals.

Having grown up in the UK (in Manchester) yet having a hero in Martin Chivers of the great Spurs team of the early '70's I lost touch of Martin's career shortly after I left to live overseas..and Martin disappeared from Spurs.
This book tells his story and its great to see it at last in print.
A quiet guy on the field (but what a striker!) and it seems a real pleasant man off the field...
This book I read in just a few days, easy to read, well written & it brought back all those great memories...
A wonderful career encapsulated so well ....
Great for Spurs fans as well as all those who enjoy biographies of sporting hero's...

Some interesting insights into real life relationships (Bill Nicholson & Chiv over their life journeys) but I wont spoil them by divulging them here...read the book!
