It's quite bulky and took a few attempts to set it up as if not done correctly the slightest move sets it off, but overall it is a good live trap. I think it would be better if it could set up not to close so the wild rat can get used to it over a period of days, then when they're not expecting it you can set it up to catch them.

It's designed so you cannot get bitten and works well, and needs to be checked daily but I found I could attach a water bottle on the side of it.

Great for catching escaped pets as I found out, especally when it's in a huge pet store. The rat was caught first time and was unharmed.

We bought this to try and catch the adult male rat we thought was living under our shed. At first the cheese kept disappearing and the trap stayed open. We tried different positions for the cheese on the plate and different cheeses. In the end we presed Brie onto the plate so it stuck there. Next morning, half the brie scratched off, cage closed but no rat. Adjusted the catch but all to no avail. Other nights the wind set it off. In the end, after two weeks of feeding ratty with a wonderful selection of cheeses we cleared the shed and moved it so we could put gravel underneath. In fact the rat wasn't there. It appears he was getting in from next door and just hid under our shed whilst nicking our bird food in short attacks on the bird table. We blocked up the fence and we've not seen him since, clever little beggar. My other half grew up opposite a slaughter house and has been vegetarian since the age of six and this seemed like a good idea but it isn't well-made enough. Get something better than this.

Was hoping to catch some baby rats that were too big for the small traps, but the trigger plate on this is way too stiff - they would need to bench press while on it to set it off.

The door does shut quite easily, hinged on a small rod as it is, just a pity they didn't make the trigger plate a little lighter. Might try and loosen it or put some oil in it, see if that helps.

This product was of poor quality. Unless you are dealing with a huge rat, the door will never close. The door was fitted awkwardly so did not slide well when activated. Read more
