I am ten years old. I read the first book, Small Change for Stuart, and I could not put the book down. So when I finished that, I started Big Change for Stuart. I read it in two days (after school and before bed). Stuart's great uncle was a magician who disappeared, and the first book is about finding his great uncle's hidden magic workshop. In Big Change for Stuart, Stuart has to find his great uncle's will so he can keep the workshop because people want to take it from him. To find the will, he goes on adventures to work out different puzzles, and each one he works out gives him a letter. He puts the letters together but does it lead him to the will? You have to read it to find out. I loved this book and I hope there will be a third Stuart Horten book. But it would be much much better if you read Small Change for Stuart before you read Big Change for Stuart.

We really enjoyed Small Change for Stuart and have not been disappointed with Big Change for Stuart. A great story,very cleverly written and a bit unusual. Would make a great film as long as they kept to the original story.

I loved this book. The library lady at my school recommended small change for Stuart to me and i loved it. I then got big change for Stuart and read it in three days as it was so good. I recommend to boys and girls, as it is brilliantly written and is a enjoyable read.:-)

Big Change for Stuart is the sequel to Small Change for Stuart and they both revolve around the adventures of 10 year old, short for his age, Stuart Horten (S.Horten..). Suitable for confident male and female readers from about 7 years and over, this makes a pleasant change from the sparkly, pony/unicorn/fairy/wizard, adventures which are usually targeted at this age group. The result is an intelligently written adventure story which has an old-fashioned ring to it but still translates well into the modern, technological era.

The characters are likeable and interesting. Stuart is a curious young boy, keen to investigate the legacy of his Great Uncle who was a stage magician. He is accompanied on his adventures by his intrepid companion April as they solve the mysteries surrounding each piece of magical apparatus used during his Great Uncle's stage act. Another engaging character is Stuart's father who has tendency to use multisyllabic words - his job as a crossword compiler tends to hinder rather than aid his communication skills!

The book is split into short, snappy chapters and set out like a series of puzzles which will appeal to many young children. Even though this is a sequel, it can be read as a stand-alone but of course you will immediately want to read the first book anyway!

Highly recommended for children with inquiring minds who enjoy a touch of magic.

This story is my daughters favourite the characters are quirky and endearing intact that can be said about the whole story
the puzzles are great and just hard enough to keep you thinking and there is no character that you think does not deserve to be
in the story, even the baddies are great and bring even more life to this fabulous book. I can't talk about this story enough 5/5 !

Just finished reading this with my 8 year old. We both loved it. You should really read Small change for Stuart first but even if you haven't you'll still enjoy it.
