About the Author
Rick Minter is an environmental consultant specialising in people's attitudes to nature. He helps different groups and individuals explore ways of managing the environment together, and is hired by government bodies, councils, wildlife bodies and community groups. Separately to his day job he advises people on big cats. He runs talks and workshops to discuss big cats and the issues they present. He advises local and national media on the topic, and he networks with other researchers through the Big Cats in Britain group, which studies evidence and reports of the cats. He has chaired expert meetings on the subject, briefed scientific bodies, and pursued sightings with Britain's most experienced trackers. And crucially, he has seen and sensed some of these animals for himself -

Big Cats Panther Britannica,

an extraordinarily interesting book. Not because of any fierce or specialist advocacy but because it looks at this intriguing though not easy subject from several points of view. Its comprehensive, not superficial. Lots of pictures and quotes illuminate the evidence. You can dip and in and out of very well laid out text. You will be surprised.

A fascinating mystery is given the thoughtful treatment it deserves. This book is gripping and well researched. Rick Minter uses his scientific training to analyse the evidence for leopards and pumas living and breeding in the UK. Brilliant.

By far the most unbiased, biologically correct and generally convincing book on the subject I have read. The author has really done his homework. At no point does he come across as a fanatical believer, instead presenting the evidence and allowing the reader to judge for themselves. This has the effect of creating a very powerful argument for the existence of big cats in the UK. I'm sure I'mnot the only person who has read this book that now wants to go out and see one of these mysterious creatures.
