The british cookbook I was looking for 4 Feb 2012
By D B Crisp - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Spiral-bound
I know this isnt the greatest looking book in most peoples eyes, spiral bound and part of a series, but if you want traditional british cooking with none of these 'with a twist' or 'modern' monikers then this is the book for you.

There are sparse pictures but as the title suggest, 365 recipes including soups and starters, fish, meat game and poultry, veges and salads, puddings and deserts, teatime treats and preserves sauces and accompaniments.

Its nice to see such peasent fare as tripe and onions or toad in the hole sitting alongside some glorious roasts. And also good to see old traditional fare such as spotted dick, bakewell tarts, mice and tatties and bacon fraize get a look in.

Only problem really is the roast and game, which is fairly extensive (grouse, partridge, rabbit, spatchcock) and difficult to obtain outside of the UK. Otherwise a wonderful little book which where british food has not recieved the Jamie Oliver treatment.
