Temperature controller is not at all accurate. When set to 67C it heats to 77C, then knocks off, goes back down to 67C and the knocks
On again to boiling. No matter what I did I could not get the temp control to work accurately.

The light does no switch on and off to indicate whether to element is heating or not so you’re kind of clueless as to what’s happening with it.
Just seems really badly designed.

Also, arrived broken as packaging was poor.

Don’t bother buying this.

I've had this tun for about 4 months now. It is very well built and easy to clean. Earlier posters have mentioned the thermostat. I have found that it works very well - just not at the temperature indicated by the knob!

To illustrate. I set the knob at 60 degrees to bring the water up to strike temperature. 60 degrees on the knob brings the water to 70 degrees.
I add the malt, then I drop the temperature on the knob to 46 degrees, and it keeps the mash at a constant 65 degrees.

It took a bit of trial and error to find these settings, but once found the tun is reliable.

With regard to the boil, it sounds like a faulty tun. Mine boils like fury, in fact I have to turn it down from the max setting a little bit to get it rolling without going mad.

If you want to do a n electric mash (as opposed to eg the coolbox approach) then I would recommend this tun/boiler.

Mechanically, it works fine, but the boil is just not vigorous enough - by a long shot. Also, I can't trust the thermostat. I've had two mashes go way above temperature. Considering just leaving it turned off and relying on mass of mash to keep temp up. Great concept, just missing out on execution.
