4.0 out of 5 stars The old Doctor waves goodbye to his meal ticket? 15 Jun 2004
Format:VHS Tape
For some of us the likes of Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee will be forever Doctor Who. More recent fans will know Sylvester McCoy as the time traveller. This documentary is his visit to the set of the new movie, where he had a pivotal role of pasing the baton to his successor Paul McGann. The concept was set to relight the franchises fire and promote a revival of the cult show, incorporating ideas from the original series with US budgets and film-making. Whilst the movie was hit and miss with fans and newcomers alike, this makes a fascinating piece of almost home movie-making. McCoy is as always an entertaining host and makes the whole thing move along briskly, whilst keeping the viewer involved in the process. This is exactly the sort of thing the DVD of the movie should have featured as an extra.
This is superb for any older fans of the show and a great introduction to the series highs and lows for anyone who wonders just what all of the fuss was about.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real McCoy Part 2 15 Oct 2010
Format:VHS Tape
This wonderful, warm and witty behind the scenes look at Sylv's involvement with "Doctor Who the Movie" bears a mention, with the the Movie's re-release on an expanded DVD.

Sylv takes us on a journey to Vancouver in early 1996 where he will hand over the keys to the TARDIS to his friend and successor Paul McGann, and on the way takes in some of the sights of Canada, says hello to former Doctor Who companion Anneke Wills, shares a glass of wine with the afrementioned Mr McGann, makes Daphne Ashbrook laugh, and generally makes merry around the set.

Sylv also give an insight to his own time with Doctor Who between 1987 and 1989, and why, in his own inimitable syle and opinion, the original series was cancelled.

Essential viewing for any Seventh Doctor fan.
