Each fable is short and sweet and gives great wisdom in life.

A tortoise, a crow, a fox, a hare, an ant, a lion and even a milk pot : as many familiar features which fill among many others our mind... they appear regularly and we owe them to Monsieur de La Fontaine's wonderfil talent. He is the prince of poets, he had known how to tranform an old tradition, that of the fable into an exceptional skill which charms the ear while enchanting the soul. He woke up forrests,gave life to animals and that way managed to caricature men.
Morality : it would be totally wrong not to read those old testaments of mankind those please children and make adults smile, their impertinence is without doubt the key of their neverending success. That we tell them by heart for school or just for oneself, one cannot resist the pleasure of the fable...

Unfortunately the book is a copy (which is not why I'm complaining)...but at least make a good copy of the book. I am a bit dissapointed.

I ordered and returned 2 copies of this small book from Amazon. In both copies, the black and white printing was extremely faded and the page was not in place when the printing took place. On some pages the print started about 1/4 the way down so the bottom 1/4 of the text did not get printed on the page.
