If you love the Soft Boys and love the waves, you love Kimberley Rew whether you know it or not. Even as a young Rew you can tell he is a great songwriter. He may not be Robyn Hitchcock, or Robyn's Paul McCartney but he is certainly Robyn's George Harrison. Listen to that guitar, listen to that voice and listen to those lyrics. Buy this and you will be walking on sunshine.

A compilation of various tracks recorded during the end of The Soft Boys and the beginning of The Waves (which eventually became Katrina and The Waves), "The Bible of Bop" showed that Kimberly Rew's songwriting talents had blossomed. Many of the tracks here wouldn't have been out of place on one of The Soft Boys albums (and, in fact, the bonus track "Animals" with its infectious child-like melody and somewhat humorous lyrics would have fit perfectly on "Underwater Moonlight")demonstrating the influence that Robyn Hitchcock had on his former guitarist's approach to writing. While that influence IS there it doesn't diminish the great, straight ahead rock on the album.
Rew is backed by the members of The Soft Boys, The Waves and The DB's on various tracks here. The booklet included briefly covers the recording/history of the album and also has comments from various critics/musicians about the album itself.
The album has been digitally restored but be aware that some of these were recorded on 8 track and aren't going to sound quite as good as a contemporary recording. They've done a very nice job with the sound on this limited edition (it's limited to 1000 copies)as it isn't brickwalled nor is it harshly compressed. We get three bonus tracks that didn't appear on the original 8 track album.
Highly recommended.

After all these years and many promised releases, here it is. "Hey, War Pig!" is worth every penny all by itself.
