Totally in polished steel, Kitty represents the highest level of Italian design combined with cutting edge technology. Its harmonious lines enhance the purity of the material used and the practicality of the black burn-proof handle. Kitty prepares an excellent coffee in just a few minutes, to sip while hot, at any time, according to the Bialetti tradition which has always extolled the aroma and flavour of coffee maker expressos. It is suitable for use on gas, electric and induction and pyroceramic hobs and is dishwasher safe. The coffee maker measures 22cm/8.7in high and has a base diameter of 10cm/3.9in. A 10 Cup Espresso Coffee Maker is the approximate equivalent of 500ml/ 16fl.oz (max. boiler capacity). Please note that this cup size is based on espresso cup sizes and not on regular tea or coffee cup sizes.

So I decided to spend less and opt for this as an inbetweeny but after using this pot, I love it.
The coffee tastes great, as I bought the large pot for when friends come round it took a bit of working out just the right amount of water to coffee for only one or two people, but after a few very weak and not very nice cups soon discovered the right mix.
Much better than my old standard mokka pot, with its age old problem of pouring issues and burnt hands from steam when pouring etc.
With this pot no need to use a tea towel on the handle or to cover to stop the steam burn, and it pours really well too.
I have now decided to buy a smaller version as well, so I can have a quicker coffee for one or two people and save this for friends around.
I already had a milk frothing jug just In case La PAv. ran out of steam for several cappuccinos so I just whizz up the froth in the jug and hey presto a really nice creamy cappo.
Seriously, nothing will ever match up to my faithful friend, but for a lot less money you can still have a really nice espresso or cappo.
I would certainly recommend this.
When the pot first arrived we couldn't really use it safely because the gaps on our gas hob were spaced too wide and the pot was unstable. Undeterred however we ordered a gas ring reducer which certainly did the trick but beware, you may need similar if you have a UK spec gas hob. Secondly, although the pot is undoubtedly extremely well made and has a quality feel about it, conversely the accompanying instructions (single page leaflet in 6 languages) are pretty hopeless, so it took us a while to get the hang of it e.g. First use it started leaking between the top and bottom halves of the unit, but more robust hand tightening solved that problem NB. Do not use the pot's handle to aid its assembly and dis-assembly. Also, there are three different ways that the middle filter plate and seal can be inserted inside the pot but only one is correct otherwise the coffee in the funnel sticks to the top half of the pot and goes everywhere when cleaning it.
Having said all this there's nothing like trial and error (together with a bit of Googling) to solve these little niggles and I can comfortably say that we are now producing consistently nice cups of coffee and are extremely happy with the unit albeit still a fair bit of experimentation required with coffee verses water ratios.
The only thing still unresolved is the cleaning regime.Read more ›
2 man sized mugs of coffee.
The design is also most pleasing and easy to clean. All in all I regard it a good value purchase.
The product was shipped out direct from Italy quickly. The only down side is-----it was made in India, not Italy! I really wanted to get one which was made in Italy! That's the only reason I didn't rate it for 5 stars.
