Fantastic to see that this beautifully written book, which is many things in one, is out in paperback. It is an entertaining, incredibly erudite reading of a wide range of tv shows that is both academically excellent and a joy for the non-academic reader. If you care about feminism and post-feminism, gender and sexuality, or care about how television transmits role models, or care about how academics read television, this is a book that you should own. It contains superb, invested readings not only of the television shows, but of the social issues that the shows fuel and are fuelled by, and of the academics who inform the debate.
