"Beyond Ragnarok" was the first novel I'd read by Micky Zucker Reichert and I'll confess that it was so slow to start that it took me almost 6 months to force myself through the 20 page battle-filled prologue. I nearly didn't even get that far. The characters held no attraction and despite the fact that you're made to see the world through Colbey Calistinsson's eyes, you don't even know which side you're meant to be supporting. However, take heart, it does get better. With Colbey tucked away in history, a mere legend for the main characters involved in this story, the tale truly begins. Although not entirely original, Reichert manages to pack a full-on fantasy punch with a novel full of sword, sorcery, myths, misunderstandings and love. Not only did I enjoy the novel, I was left baying for more.
