Product Description

Brian and Mark are setting out on the first Carbon Neutral, Vegetarian, and Organic expedition ever to attempt the North Pole. As a world first they have high hopes of getting into the Guinness Book of Records and, if all goes well, of saving the planet from Global Warming. Unfortunately they have never done anything like this before. And they hadn t reckoned on the polar bears, the cocky gay Norwegians, or on Mark s rapidly loosening grip on reality.

No one said saving the planet was easy, but does it have to be this hard? BEYOND THE POLE is Touching the Void with laughs, and Withnail and I on ice. Funny and subversive it s the story of two men trying to find their place in the world before the end of the world. And it asks one question of us all: how far would you go to save the planet?

5.0 out of 5 stars lovely film! 15 Jun 2010
Format:DVD
Sorry I never review films but this was just so great and Brian and Mark (Stephen Mangan and Rhys Thomas) are so funny that I just have to. I saw this in a packed screening and I can honestly say that I have never been in a film like it since Borat I think where people just laughed their heads off. But it's much more than just a comedy because at a certain point the film turns really interesting and goes darker and suddenly it's not just a comedy anymore it's an adventure/thriller kind of thing going on. And so moving at the end. I think what really makes it for me (and everyone noticed this) is that it makes you feel so unexpectedly good at the end. It's not schmaltzy at all but it really gets you. So surprising, and warm and - get it! It's great! PS oops and yes Alexander Skarsgard of True Blood fame is wonderful in it - soooo funny!!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEYOND Amazing. 8 Jun 2010
Format:DVD
I saw this film at the Nashville Film Festival, and it was one of about 60 films I saw. It remains one of my favorites. It was incredibly funny, but not forced like some comedic movies out there, and it was very natural. The cast has an amazing chemistry. I didn't feel like anyone let me down in their performances. All around, Beyond Amazing movie. It is a must see.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK, I suppose
Quite fun but pretty lightweight in most ways, this should, perhaps, have gone straight to television and only the impressive locations ever make it feel any more than that.
