Interesting book where SF outlines a theory of the human mind on the id,ego, and superego, quite similar in structure to religions idea of the devil, conscience and god respectively. The pleasure principle is based around the idea of humanities hedonistic aptitude being derailed by what he terms the reality principle. If your previous view of Freud was his Oedipus complex and personal heavy use of cocaine as mine was, this book goes someway in restoring credibility to a giant in therapy circles.

OCR edition 5 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
I recently purchased the OCR edition of "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" and feel I must warn those who are also considering this purchase. While I'm in no doubt of Freud's genius this edition is completely unreadable. Numerous spelling mistakes, random punctuation, and baffling structure all go towards making this book unreadable. I know there is a warning in the product description above but it's an understatement to say the least and having used Amazon for many years I can't believe that such a well run company would bother selling a product of such shoddy quality.
