Product Description

Product Description

Formula One is the world's most glamorous sport, attracting a huge following, but few come to know what is really going on behind the scenes. Louise Goodman, the UK's only female Formula One TV presenter, has been working in the sport for many years now, and her race-by-race diary of the season gives a fascinating glimpse of the characters and incidents that shaped the 2000 campaign. Not only do the stars like Schumacher, Hakkinen and Coulthard come in for close scrutiny, Goodman also reveals what it is like working alongside the voice of the sport, Murray Walker.

About the Author

Louise Goodman has worked in the motor industry since 1988, spending five years with the Jordan team. She has been working for ITV since they took over screening Grand Prix racing. This is her first book.

rather disappointing 25 July 2001

Format:Hardcover
A disappointing read, this book fails to live up to its title. Louise Goodman offers few 'insights' beyond those already covered by the media during the 2000 season. If you're really looking for a 'beyond the pitlane' account of F1, a far beter read is Derik Alllsop's 'Formula 1 uncovered'.

If you are a formula one fan, this book is a must. I didn't realise how much really went on behind the scenes of a grand prix, let alone an entire season!! From the start of the 2000 season to the bitter end, Louise presents an event by event journal of the grand prix's. Including exclusive interviews, thoughts and actual circumstances from teams and drivers as well as a brief introduction to the history behind each event throughout the season, party details, gossip etc. This book really is THE informative guide to "the behind scenes" aspect of the Grand Prix Season.

A great book which I found difficult to put down! Relive the memories of the 2000 season and get a real insight into the behind the scenes of teams, drivers and the ITV team. I have also read the Formula 1 Uncovered by Derick Allsop and found that both books were equally good. If you read Formula 1 Uncovered and enjoyed it I would definately recommend this book. Louise writes with wit and enthusiasm and the only thing I can fault with the book is I feel I would have liked a few more photographs.
