The MMX100s are a vanilla pair of DTX 100s with a microphone attached. No big deal - read the DTX 100 reviews.

Do be aware that this model *is* like a typical headset i.e. if you try plugging them into a socket that doesn't accomodate the condenser mic portion of the jack plug then the sound in the earphones will attenuate (this applies to most headphones of this type though, including the standard iPhone issue ones). Be sure that you have an iPhone or similar device that can accomodate the mic and it won't be a problem.

In a nutshell though, these are heavier on the bottom - exactly as it says in the DTX 100 reviews. Like the guy or girl of your dreams, but with chubby ankles and clumsy gait. It's unfortunate that the bass is a little excessive, but some people could love it. The whole low end is very immersive and warm with this bias, but it has knock on effects that detract from the mid and top, If you prefer a crisper, better proportioned curve, go for the DTX-80s instead (they really are worth the extra dosh).

I bought these because of good internet reviews - although some people said they stopped working far too quickly. After some initial problems caused by having them in the wrong ears (don't ask) I found the sound settled down nicely and was good quality. However after about 12 months of low use (too and from work on the train - 1-1.5 hours a day) I lost the sound through one channel. I wish I had kept the receipt as I am not sure whether it was more or less than 12 months ago I bought them.

Mine failed after 13 months and the supplier (Superfi via Amazon) incorrectly quoted the law, saying that as the guarantee had expired I had no claim. They should know that the Sale of Goods Act 1979 requires goods to be of satisfactory and durable - bearing in mind the price and typical use. If you're happy to pay £80 for 13 months use, then fair enough. I think that is very poor and would not recommend this product unless you only intend to use them at home and never move around much. It seems like the internal wiring has worn out.

Significant upgrade to other in-ear cans. Beyer have done a great job with the clarity of sound. Oddly though, on the move I get clicking sounds. These are nothing to do with the electrical connections. Perhaps they are susceptible to static.

Better than much more expensive 'phones. Meatier sound, but a tad tinny at the top end. Only real critique though is lack of volume control on the remote.
