I can't fault the sound quality of these earphones but the earpieces started falling apart 2 months after purchase.
It appears as if everything was poorly glued together. It's really not worth the price considering this a common problem with this particular model.
I owned different brands from Sennheizers, Beats and Sony earphones and this is the first time I've come across this problem.

Sound quality is quite impressive considering the price point. However, after 6 months the started to fall apart, literarly. If you are a heavy user like myself I would not recomend they; otherwise great buy.

I am an amateur (not really)audiophile and before purchasing these had bought a pair of Beyerdynamic's dt990 Pro 250ohm. Having been impressed with the build quaity of that pair, I was surprised to find these so brittle and flimsy (I understand these are a completely different style of 'phone, I mean in proportion). I also didn't like the way they sat i nthe ear. In my opinion this lead to less than optimal sound quality.

I'll stand by Beyerdynamic as a brand, and am currently considering a pair of dt770s. This particular product is just a bit of an nomaly.

On the shelf the Beyerdynamics could easily be mistaken for a £10 set of earphones, out of the box I've seen more expensive looking units going for £20 but that's where the comparison abruptly ends.

On listening to the Beyerdynamics for the first time I quickly realised they were no ordinary earphones when the midrange frequencies filled out whatever ear the track I was listening determined with a rich and detailed 3d presence that I thought was impossible with earphones. Its almost like the Beyerdynamics use the inside of your skull to build a sonic stage, the baas is punchy but never overblown, the treble is sweet and detailed but not overpowering. The incredible thing about the Beyerdynamics is that no instrument ever appears to arrive flat through any channel, there's always some 3d magic involved, the whole frequency range dances around like a young Muhammad Ali in his prime, able to throw a punch from anywhere, "hit hard and move on quickly".

I'm just praying that they'll last me, they seem robust but I have no way of knowing for sure, I listen to a lot of music on my phone so having a built in microphone and answer button is very useful for me, not too sure about the Skype laptop adapter as I'd be more inclined to use Skype on my phone.

I'm no audiophile or sound engineer just a guy who listens to a lot of music on the move and isn't swayed into buying stuff just because of the brand.

There's loads of models to choose from at this price range but I think I actually got lucky with these earphones, I just hope they're better built than somethe other models I've used over the years.

I bought these to replace a pair of Shure SE215's
SOUND - In comparison the Shure phones were a lot lighter and tinnier sounding but very precise, The MMX101's give a much richer warmer sound. However with both sets of phones you soon get used to the sound you are listening to and they are both very good.
NOISE ISOLATION - Where the Shure headphones win hands down though is in background noise isolation. The Shure headphones were excellent in this respect, to the extent that when taking them off in the street traffic noise suddenly seems deafening. Unfortunately with the MMX101's street noise can be so load as to require you to raise the volume.
BUILD - As with all headphones the jack that connects to your MP3 player etc is the bit that usually breaks first and this is what happened with my Shure SE 215's a little after a year. A nice touch with them was that they have a socket higher up the cord allowing you to replace the damaged jack with a replacement extension. The MMX101's don't have this so I just hope that they are robustly built (too early to say at the moment).
COMFORT - The lead on Shure SE215's is good for looping over the ear but the MMX101's is not so easy and keeps popping off.
MICROPHONE - The microphone on the MMX101's is very useful if you are using it on a smart phone. There is a single button which on my android device pauses the music and answers calls (The Shure SE215 does not have a Microphone).
CONCLUSION - personally I think the Shure SE215 are a bit better although it is pretty close and if there is a noticeable difference in price this would be the decider for me

the packaging is rather unimpressive and even cheap looking but the sound that comes out of these buds is truly amazing. i am not an expert at headphones but i love music and listen to it a lot and these make it a completely new experience. would highly recommend them.

Purchased these new on 26.09.2011. They are now falling apart (November 2012), at the ear piece on both side right and left. Shockingly bad quality.
