I thought you might like to know that Dead Space 3 will feature microtransactions in the form of buying resources for use in the weapons bench! Presumably optional, this "feature" will most probably cause scavenging for resources to turn into a total grind. It's up to you if you want to support such money-grabbing practices in a game that already costs £40!
Yeah i couldn't believe the same sort of thing was in MASS EFFECT3 multi player which i thought was a right rip off , i still ended up spending loads of MS points for better weapons and different characters. I'm a bloody idiot !!
For what its worth, I'm dead excited for Dead Space 3. I'm going to buy it, and I'm going to play it, and I'm not going to buy any add-ons through the microtransaction feature. I'm going to play it using whatever items I can scavenge in-game. No one has a gun to your heads forcing you to buy extra items, which, chances are will be so powerful they will make the game too easy anyway. Screw that.
Hey you know what? You dont actually need to buy the parts at all to play the game, so why dont you stop complaining and wait for the game to actually be released before you moan. I cant believe you would let such a small feature ruin a game before even playing it.
Lloyd, it might be a small feature now, but knowing EA and its approach to games, it will only grow bigger and bigger in the future unless we show them that we don't like it. This is the actual reason I started this discussion, to inform people that EA is out to ruin one of their favourite gaming franchises.
These probably won't be essential in DS3 but what this will do is set a precedent for future AAA games to include similar shady microtransactions. Who's to say the publishers/developers won't make looting/resource collection/drops that much more rarer or a chore to acquire in order to drive more gamers towards said microtransactions? Look what happened with Diablo 3 and the auction house fiasco. And how about the fact that a pop-up message asking you to "buy downloadable content" that appears every time you go into weapon crafting will totally ruin one's immersion into the game? I know it will for me. And for the folks who don't have the time, skill or inclination for resouce collection, guess what, that's what easy/normal modes are for! What EA is doing is esentially charging you for CHEAT CODES! We already pay 40 quid for a brand new game, don't tack these godawful transactions and day 1 DLC (another gripe that I have) on to them.
The fact that some people say such stupid lines as "You don't have to buy them!" shows how utterly ignorant some people are about micro-transactions in games. I don't believe anybody would like to pay money for NOTHING! you want a part for a weapon which is already in the game and want to pay real money for it? how f'ing stupid can you be? you want to buy a level boost and short-cut/XP bonus? you got it STUPID! I can imagine the people who actually pay money for these things, it's most likely 14-16 year olds who have a limitless amount of money on their Xbox account thanks to mummy and daddy, either that or somebody so stupid that they pay more money for essentially "cheat codes" without the codes. I hope Patrick Moore's ghost comes and breaks your Xbox.
