My 4 year old loved the mischief of the 3 bears in this very funny sequel to the Goldilocks story. The author takes the themes and language of the original and plays around with them, I laughed out loud and so did she. The humour is quite sophisticated, but perfectly accessible to small children who know the Goldilocks story inside out. The illustrations are spot on too. It has a surprise ending that delights all, and has become a favourite in this house.

I had already borrowed this book from the library to read to the children who attend the pre-school where I work, so knew that it was a book that would appeal, but also get them thinking about behaviour. I wanted to purchase it so it would be available for the children to access at all times.

What a magical moment - total silence in my class of lively four year olds! And the cause? They were listening to Beware of the Bears: a lovely, well-written story of what might have happened after Goldilocks' visit to the home of the three bears. The children were transfixed by the story and at the end there was a moment of silence as the full impact of the ending sunk in. Then there was laughter and excited chatter. What more could you want from a children's story? Magical!

Definitely beware of these three bears!
This is a fun book to follow the usual story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. No one will be disappointed and there is a surprise!
